You won’t get to the life you want if you don’t keep going when you feel like quitting. Admittedly, it’s easier said than done, but that doesn’t mean it’s not the truth.
Quitting can seem like the only solution to end pain and discomfort. Yet, quitting takes the mystery out of life. It also removes the chance to see what you’d do with this physical journey if you trusted your inner guidance a bit more, if you kept going. But trauma, persistent challenge and dreams deferred can sap your energy, leave you feeling flat and ready to quit.
Even so, don’t quit.
Alternatives To Quitting
When you feel like quitting, there are options. Here are a few options you could consider when you feel like quitting:
- Reach out to a friend or relative, someone who has proven to be trustworthy time and again.
- Examine your expectations. Ask yourself if your expectations are unrealistic or even a way to set you up for disappointment.
- When you feel like quitting remember why you started. For instance, you could start the day by telling yourself why you started pursuing a specific dream or goal. But don’t just remind yourself why you started if you feel like you want to quit now. Recall your earliest memories about your goal, adding loads of color, sound and scent, regarding what you truly want.
- As simple as this sounds, take a break if you feel like you want to quit. This quitting could be the desire to abandon a goal or dream. Just take a break and see if you don’t feel refreshed.
More Quitting Alternatives
- Also, get outside and enjoy a walk in nature. In fact, if you often feel like quitting, taking a daily walk outdoors could prove to be an effective daily practice.
- Meditate to still your thoughts and enter periods of restfulness.
- Eat a healthy diet that includes fresh fruit and vegetables.
- When you feel like quitting, create three to four daily activities that easily cause you to feel peace, joy and loved. This might come through listening to music you love, enjoying a warm, scented bubble bath, journaling, reading enjoyable books or dining at a sidewalk cafe with a good friend.
- Traveling to new cities and countries might also serve as inspiration.
- Above all, continue your inner journey. It’s an endless, limitless journey.
When You Feel Like Quitting
As a reminder, when you feel like quitting remember why you started. And, believe in the light inside of you. Keep going because you really don’t know what’s around the corner, especially if you open to good change, especially if you’re willing to take good chances.
Seek professional help if self care practices like meditation, thought awareness, outdoor exercise and connecting with family and friends doesn’t find you shifting upward. Don’t let yourself get too far adrift as it regards quitting before you take action.
Shifting Instead of Quitting
In fact, seek help from people, books and your Higher Self when you want to quit now. This is what Raymond Clarke learns to do in Love Pour Over Me.
Reading Raymond’s fictional story might help you to see that you are not alone. In fact, help is always available. Even more, help is right inside of you. Turn to that help.
And, if that doesn’t yield good results, reach out. Here are telephone numbers for mental health support. There’s the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Helpline (800) 662-4357. Additionally, there’s National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (800) 273-8255 and Veterans Crisis Line (800) 273-8255.
